As a Club mini fundraiser, LAVGC assists the Alameda County Fair each year. Members volunteer their time in any area of the Fair where help is needed, for example, in the horticultural area, the professional gardens, the information booth, or even at the horse races. It is a lot of fun and, in return for your service, you receive two free tickets to enjoy anytime during the Fair. The Club receives money based on the number of LAVGC volunteer hours.
The Alameda County Fair typically starts in mid-June and goes for two weeks. See the May and June LAVGC newsletters for reminders about signing up to volunteer at the Fair. Members will sign up on the Alameda County website for volunteer positions.
