Garden Angels

Our Club members are a supportive community, ready to step up and help other members. Our Garden Angels group is willing and eager to help any garden club member who is not able to keep up their garden temporarily because of illness, medical procedures, or other reasons. Our Angels can prune, deadhead, sweep, plant annuals, and generally tidy up the garden.

Member Beth Clark recounts:

One year I was holding off until February 15 to do that all important big pruning to get the garden ready for spring-you know the day when you cut off all the old dead growth so that the new growth and flowers will look their best. On February 1 I experienced a medical crisis that was going to keep me out of the garden for months. In came the Garden Angels, between 10 and 15 of them, to get my garden into shape for the spring. My daughter asked "Do you know these people? How do they know what to do?" I responded, "Yes, I know them, they are my friends. And they know what to do because they are gardeners!" Being able to enjoy my garden over the months of my recovery helped to keep my spirits up. My first outing after my recovery was to the Club's Garden Share event!

Do you need this kind of help or know someone who does? If so, use the signup sheet at the monthly Club meeting or for more information and to be added to the group's mailing list, send email to the leaders on Contact Us.

Participation

All club members, from novices to experienced gardeners, can be garden angels. Participating in Angel events is a great way to meet other members. These Angel events become social occasions for the Angels who are working in the gardens.

Meeting times

There is no regular meeting time for the Garden Angels. The leader alerts other members when a member needs help and members who want to participate join in.
