Did you miss it? September 12th was the club's annual Tomato Tasting, and WOW did we have good tomatoes and yummy dishes...remember September 2016 we'll do it again.
We had the tasting at the Eden Garden, behind Crosswinds Church. The garden and the Knot Barn provided a wonderful and relaxing venue. The weather smiled on us with slight overcast and much cooler than the days before, perfect weather for eating and visiting.
Nineteen people tasted 11 cherry tomato entries, 3 paste tomato entries, and 18 slicer tomato entries. We also tasted 9 yummy tomato-themed entries. Winners in each category received a beautifully embroidered apron. Barbara Stott gave a presentation on saving seeds from tomatoes.
This event is great for "showing" off what you have grown, or how good you are at picking the perfect farmer's market tomato, getting great ideas for what to grow or to buy next year, and to get some amazing recipes for tomato themed food items.
Many thanks to Barbara Stott and Karen Abbruscato for helping us get the venue, Norm Burkhard for set up help, everyone one who came and shared, and a big thank you to the people who stayed and performed a quick clean up after the tasting.
