Tomato Tasting 2016

The Annual Tomato Tasting was held Saturday 24, 2016 at Camp Arroyo in Livermore. About 30 people attended to compete, taste, and socialize on the warm afternoon. This year there were many more tomato-themed dishes when compared to tomatoes to taste. Several people said their tomatoes had recently slowed production. But let's be honest - everyone looked forward to tasting the smorgasbord of 14 dishes!

The 2016 winners are

Cherry Tomato:

Winner

Yellow cherry from Nancy Jones

Paste Tomato:

only one entry this year

Winner

Michael Pollan's Green Paste from Lori Martin

Slicer Tomato:

Winner

Crimson Carmello from Gayle Pawloski. Crimson Carmello was the slicer winner last year, too

Savory Tomato-themed Dishes:

Due to the abundance of excellent tasting savory tomato-themed dishes two awards were given

2nd Place Winner

All five winners were pleased to be awarded an apron embroidered with "Livermore Amador Valley Garden Club Annual Tomato Tasting 2016".
